Chumps Bars

Eric asked to see a set of Chumps on the FXR over the weekend, so here you go.
This is with about 1.75" trimmed off the ends.
Yes, I'll sort that 9-foot long throttle cable before the end of the day.
I rode to San Francisco this morning to get this special fog for a backdrop.

Random question: Why do people cover up or photoshop their license plates when they put bike photos on the innerwebs? Don't a few thousand people a day see your plate on the street? Does it really matter, or did one dude do it once, and now everyone does it without knowing why?

Random Answer: So all those stolen bikes can remain anonymous.

Yeah, if anyone is riding around on a stolen bike with the stolen plate still on it, they are pretty stupid. I guess that's why they'd be a thief in the first place.

Only reason I can think of involves covering the plate b4 you shoot a bike at night so you dont get the flash back messing up the shot.

shitface, these are Works units that are super stiff. I like them a lot but wouldn't have paid retail, I was lucky and picked them up from a friend for way less.

Mike why you always bust my balls about that mirror.

one reason given for the number plate bit is insurance and cops tracing vehicles, friends in the warranty departments have told me stories about searching through forums etc and voiding coverage if they find competition activities etc. Same thing with the fuzz issuing warnings based on photos.
Then there is the ghost plate option where someone with a stolen/defected vehicle searches for a same spec vehicle and makes a ghost plate.
The chumps are looking ace too!

I was equally spellbound when a guy came up to me in the Long Beach Cycle Swap Meet parking lot and asked me if I had taken a picture of his bike? Yes. "Well, that's not cool. You cant take a picture of my plate." Well OK but you know there's about 50 dudes and at least 5 chicks walking around this lot, coming to this event, with the sole purpose of taking pictures of bikes in the parking lot??? Scared of the cops, I don't know, but it's pretty stupid to ride your bike to a place where you can absolutely guarantee that pictures are going to be taken.... Crimony.

Boy, that's easy. If you're riding around, how many people pay attention to your plate and of those how many can even read it? But if it's posted on the internet BILLIONS of people can see it, check to see where that bike is garaged and arrange to have it stolen. Ups your chances of theft considerably.
