I always kept one of John Muir's books in my old '61 bus back in the day. I recently bought a newer version when I bought a $500 baja bug. His illustrations and hippy humor are just as good as ever, even if you don't care about the old air-cooled, oil-leaking monsters, they are fun to read and the drawings are gorgeous. That W-12 is nuts but I bet a valve job would cost as much as clean early single cab...

I have always wished that somebody wrote a manual
as good as Muir's for any other vehicle i've ever had to
deal with. 2 wheels or 4... Every time I open a damned
shop manual.
