FXR UPR 2.0

Well, I've been putting off doing any real work on the '92 FXR I bought about six months ago. I hate looking at it, but I love riding it. With only about six weeks until the BASH, I figured I had better get my act together and start doing something.

I've collected a few bits over the last few months and nows the time. I dig this Superglide-shaped tank I bought off my friend Junior. I made some mounts for it tonight and adjusted the rear a bit so it sits closer to the backbone now. I'll miss the 6,000 mile range of the stock tank, but I didn't alter any of the stock mounting points, so I can always go back if I decide to ride to Alaska. The seat got dropped off at Duane's house tonight. At least I know one thing on the bike will be right. Now, I need to strip out all the wires, speedo cable, etc that isn't needed anymore and clean a bunch of little stuff up. I think I'll ditch the Sporty headlight and run a little Bates unit. Also gotta clean up the trees, add the shaved dual disc legs and get the other brake side all hooked up. Hoping for a set of our prototype "Chimp" bars in time. Mags need some paint. Coolest thing on the bike is going to be the MCM-Triumph-style fork covers I scored from West Eagle, these things are rad. Still gotta make some pipes too. I should have a big batch of stuff going to powder coat by the end of the week, and then we'll see if I can get it all back together again...

What are the "Chimp" bars that you hope are ready for the Bash? Does this mean that the Biltwell line of bars will be available for purchase soon?

nice job! I have a 1985 fxr that is bit ugly. I'm trying to make it a little more stylish. This is good inspiration. I'll drink a shot of bourbon in your honor.

Moto, yeah we have changed up a few things on existing bars designs to make them stronger and have several all new shapes in the works. The Chimps are a mini Ape Hanger. We'll put 'em up as soon as they're ready, hopefully a sneak peek on this bike.

Thanks Vinnie, I think I'll go home and drink one in your honor, sounds like a good idea!
