Pismo Beach

Is that 1969 or 2009? The plastic jerry can and the Sportbike tire are the only things giving this photo away. Even the Jiffy Pop on JD I's bike is period correct. Nice writeup on last weekend's Pismo Beach freakout hellride on JD King's blog.

Thursday, October 15: Harbortown Bobber Screening

We're going to the movies in Santa Monica this Thursday, and if you live in SoCal you should join us…

Tommy's Shamrock Pipes, Part II

Here's Irish Rich's follow-up to the pipe project we blogged earlier this week. Thanks for the great writeup, Rick. Your pipes (and our tips) look great!

Irish Rich on Using the Biltwell Exhaust Kit

Irish Rich Ryan at Shamrock Fabrication is a builder who needs no introduction, but he's only been building pipes with our exhaust kit for a very short time… one set of pipes, in fact. But that one set is looking nice, and Rich shared his experience with our kit on his blog. Thanks for considering us for your customer's project, Rich. I'm glad you were able to make something that Tommy liked. They look great! Oh, and thanks for the Goodson breather on my SpartanKiller project.

SLO Ride

Great weekend in Pismo. I'll post some more pics and such over the next couple days but right now I need a nap! Hope everyone else made it home OK.

6th Annual David Mann Chopperfest

Our friend Tory spearheads what I believe rates among the best bike shows and bro downs in Southern California. The David Mann Chopperfest enters its sixth season this December, and the Biltwell crew will be there in full force. This event always has the best bikes and the most vendors, and most of those vendors sell the kind of stuff we're into—not the usual leather and lace. If you live within a day's drive of Ventura, CA, please come to this event. Ventura is a jewel among SoCal's coastal towns, and the Ventura County Fairgrounds are a fantastic venue for this event.

5th Annual Barber Vintage Festival This Weekend

If you are going to the 5th Annual Barber Vintage Festival (wish I was!) keep an eye out for the Malinky brothers, Tyler and Kyle. They'll be manning the Lowbrow Customs booth and hocking the all-new Biltwell Megaflakes as well as handlebars and everything else.

helmet as well as some other good stuff.

These guys work hard to make this a Bike Nite that doesn't suck,
so come by for a beer and show some support.

Starts at 7:00, raffle is at 8:00.

Matt's Sportster

Matt sold his last sportster and rode up on this 2 weekends ago. I love it. It was purple, awkward looking and had these horrible albeit probably very useful saddlebags. You can get one hell of a deal on bikes right now and sportsters are for sure one of the best deals out there. I've seen totally good, reliable, low mileage evo sportsters for like $3k with perfectly good titles and you can ride them home. Matt like so many other guys now see that value and have great ideas on what you can do in a very short time to make them more their own style. There is sooo much you can do to these for very little and have a totally great bike. Here is the one week evolution of changes Matt has done so far all the while keeping his bike a total runner.

As it sits now its 2.5" lower with Biltwell Struts, an older model sportster tank cause the new ones are Giant and sit funny, Cut the fender and exchanged the light for an inexpensive sparto style , Solo Seat and Biltwell Window Bars and Stainless Risers. Next up change out the rear tire and make a new exhaust.

Knuck, Knuck, Who's There?

Wes at Four Aces is helping a customer sell this knuck.
Here's the scoop: Runner, rider, titled. The bike is titled as a 1947 HD with a Colorado title.
5-Speed trans, open belt, OE Front end with 12 over extension done nicely. CV Carb, OE Wishbone frame raked about 40 degrees. New or newer wheels, 21 front, 16 rear with spool and disk brake rear, new tires, start EASY and runs and rides down the road good. The cases are both 47 but I am pretty sure they do not match. It is hard to read the one side

email Wes at fouracescycle@aol.com for other pics.
Asking 12K.

Gunshow!

After a long summer of bike events, a weekend off was great. McGoo has been in Vegas all weekend for that whole thing but I was lucky enough to sit this one out. The FXR needed it's third set of rear brake pads this year (gotta get some Tokicos back there) as well as some minor adjustments and fresh oils. Stoked to say all that went easy and I'm ready for next weekends jaunt up to Pismo. The weather has cooled considerably and it's perfect for riding.

Today, me, my pops and my boy went down to the Gunshow at Del Mar. It was my first time and was about what I expected. A few decent tactical gear sellers, lots of silly dress-up kits for varmint guns, tons of Chinese christmas trash and stacks of overpriced ammo and of course, guns everywhere. I bought a few cleaning supplies and this sweet t-shirt.

New and Shiny!

Check out some new Megaflake colors: Brite Silver and Midnight Black. Also, the new flat black with super awesome chrome trim. In stock and shipping now.

Scenes from a Circle Jerk

How much for these risers?

$90

What's the lowest you'll go?

$75

Will you take $50?

Conversations like this are why I hate the Chaps & 'do rag masquerade balls that pose as motorcycle events. Well, that, and questions like this:

(pointing at risers) Are these helmet locks? Where do you put the key?

Wrap it in a lone wolf beer coozie and shove it up your ass.

The Slsb City Riot can't get here fast enough...

Pismo Next Weekend

Alright, got the meet-up point for next weekend's ride. Everything else from there is just winging it, probably coming back Sunday morning. If you want to hook up for the ride up to Pismo, we are meeting Blue Collar Chris, Matt D and who knows who else at Rae's Restaurant Friday morning. Rolling out of there at 9:00am so if you want grub, get there early enough.

Rae's
2901 Pico Blvd
Santa Monica, CA 90405

It looks like about 200 miles from Santa Monica if we go up the coast. There is some chatter about getting up in the hills and going a longer route which might be more fun. I'm planning on just following Matt Davis, he's the smartest, best looking fellow I know so I figure it's a good bet.

Plum Smuggler and Pink Taco

Some quick pics from our friend Eric in Vegas. We'll have more later, but you can get a sense for how wild these machines are from these pics.

Greetings from Las Vegas

Duane and Lisa Ballard, photographer/hot rod mechanic Wes Drelleshak and I pulled out of Lake Elsinore, CA, 7:00 am yesterday for Day 1 of Las Vegas Bike Fest. It is the second time in seven days I've headed to Sin City for fun and frolic in the land of shattered dreams.

After minimal drama and easy set-up—the host venue is a non-union hall, so the hand truck Gestapo aren't required to push your cart for 47 bucks an hour—Lisa, Wes and I plopped our tired asses in our Cycle Source/DB Leather/Biltwell mini booth to watch The Cavalcade of Chaps ® while Duane prepped his Pink Taco for a world debut with boyfriend/fellow homoerotic lawn dart builder Kutty Nootboom at the last great neighborhood bar on the Strip.

At Dino's we met up with Vegas Crew enforcers Rudhog Eric, BMG Brent and Jeffo. To thank everyone for their friendship and hospitality, I gave Dino's barkeeps Sandy and Ryder a Benjamin and asked them to keep the free PBR draft flowing till my cash ran out.

Well, these gracious mixologists made sure the 50 or so locals, Bike Fest attendees and even a couple Artistry in Iron master builders stayed well lubed for every second of the three hours the assembled masses stood in the parking lot with cups in hand. While the PBR flowed, Ryder and I talked about moutain bikes, messenger services, and the famous Las Vegas motorcycle swap meet that happens in Dino's parking lot the first Sunday every month. Of course, my crew will be attending the swap meet this weekend after things wrap up at Bike Fest.

Speaking of Bike Fest, this is the coolest bike I saw in my brief walk-through on Day One. I haven't met Kraus, its builder, but when I do I'll try to do a feature of this awsome machine for ChopCult.

The Notebooms, the Ballards, Wes and I called it a night around 2:00 am after some uneventful computer poker, and everyone got up 4 hours later to do a photo shoot with Wes for Street Chopper magazine. If I can charge the battery on my Street Tracker, Wes and I are supposed to shoot my silly bike for Greasy Kulture. I'm not sure when we're going to find time to shop for 'do rags and Stony Straps, but Las Vegas Bike Fest runs through this Sunday, so I'm sure we'll figure it out. If you're in the area, please visit our humble booth. We're handing out stickers and swilling diet Dr. Pepper. Yes, I will be wired, and yes, spirited rants will ensue. See you in the desert…

Biltwell/ Kickstart Nashville Bash 2010

Sneak-peek stuff here: our friend Walt out at Kickstart Cycle Supply has been doing the heavy lifting on a southern-US event. We've settled on Nashville since it has a great Creole joint, some awesome back roads and of course Whiskey!

No details yet, just that it's going to be summer 2010,
will include camping, riding and typical shenanigans. Stay tuned!

Duane Ballard's Pink Taco

I saw this thing in finished form last night. It's gonna set choppers back thirty years. Seriously retarded. Sounds like a pissed off F1 car. Soooo damn cool. Duane and Kutty are coming out of the chopper closet this weekend at the Las Vegas Bikefest this weekend. Go see both the Pink Taco and Plum Smuggler if you get a chance. Here's a little "Bigfoot" style teaser Duane's son Wayne shot the other night...

Does Anyone Myspace Anymore?

Since ChopCult dropped August 1, I've spaced out on my Myspace duties. To make up for it, last night I sent bulletins to old friends, added new ones, and changed some info and links on our home page.

If you're a fan of Myspace, please visit our profile and ask your friends to check us out. I'm not into the whole "thanks for the add" BS, but I do find Myspace helpful for promoting rides, campouts and bike nights, which is something everyone can get into.

Thanks for your support!
